HAI Evaluation Disclaimer
Effective Date: March 1, 2026
The Human Alignment Index – HAI Score™ is an analytical framework developed by Humaital to evaluate how organizations align technological innovation, governance, and operational practices with principles of responsible and human-centered development.
The HAI Score™ is designed to encourage thoughtful governance, responsible innovation, and increased transparency regarding the societal impact of emerging technologies.
This disclaimer outlines the intended purpose and limitations of the Human-Alignment Index™ evaluations.
Purpose of the Human Alignment Index™
The Human-Alignment Index™ was developed to provide a structured framework for analyzing organizational practices related to technology governance, accountability, transparency, and societal impact.
The index evaluates organizations across several governance principles including:
- Trust
- Accountability
- Purpose
- Safety
- Transparency
- Impact
The objective of the framework is to promote constructive dialogue and encourage organizations to strengthen responsible governance practices in the development and deployment of technology.
HAI evaluations are intended to serve as informational analytical tools, not definitive judgments of an organization’s overall performance.
Methodology and Information Sources
HAI evaluations are based on methodologies developed by Humaital and may include analysis of:
- publicly available information
- corporate governance disclosures
- published policies and reports
- publicly accessible statements and documentation
- information voluntarily submitted through the HAI platform
Humaital does not claim to have access to internal company records unless voluntarily provided.
As a result, evaluations reflect the information reasonably available at the time of analysis.
While the HAI Score™ assessment process uses AI-assisted analysis to collect and evaluate publicly available evidence at scale, Humaital maintains human accountability for all published scores. Assessments at or approaching certification level, and all assessments based on verified submitted documentation, are reviewed by a designated human reviewer, currently Humaital’s founder, prior to publication. The identity of the reviewing party is available upon request by any organization whose assessment is under review.
Analytical Interpretation
The Human-Alignment Index™ and HAI Score™ represent analytical interpretations of available information using Humaital’s proprietary methodology.
Reasonable individuals may reach different conclusions when interpreting the same information.
The HAI Score™ should therefore be understood as an evaluative framework intended to encourage discussion and improvement, rather than a definitive or exhaustive assessment.
Dynamic Nature of Scores
Organizational policies, governance practices, and technological systems evolve over time.
As new information becomes available or organizational practices change, HAI evaluations and scores may be updated.
An organization’s score at any given time reflects the information available during the evaluation period.
No Endorsement or Certification
Unless explicitly stated, an HAI Score™ does not constitute:
- a certification
- a regulatory approval
- a legal determination
- an endorsement of an organization
Similarly, a lower score does not necessarily indicate misconduct or wrongdoing.
The index is intended to highlight opportunities for improved governance and alignment with responsible technology principles.
Limitation of Liability
Humaital makes reasonable efforts to conduct evaluations in good faith and based on credible sources.
However, Humaital does not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of all information used in HAI analyses.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Humaital shall not be liable for any damages or losses arising from:
- reliance on HAI evaluations
- interpretation of HAI scores
- decisions made based on information provided through the HAI platform
Use of the Human-Alignment Index™ and HAI Score™ is at the user’s own discretion.
Opportunity for Clarification
Humaital recognizes that no automated evaluation process is infallible. Public information may be incomplete, outdated, or not fully representative of an organization’s actual governance practices. Any organization that has received an HAI Score™ assessment and believes that the result contains a factual error, mischaracterizes available evidence, or omits material information that was publicly accessible at the time of evaluation is entitled to request a formal review.
How to Submit a Clarification Request
Clarification requests must be submitted in writing to Humaital via the contact form at humaital.com/contact or by direct email to hai@humaital.com. To be considered, a request must identify the specific criterion or pillar in dispute, describe the nature of the concern, and provide a reference to the evidence the organization believes was missed or mischaracterized — including a direct URL or document reference where applicable. General disagreement with a score, without reference to a specific finding, does not constitute grounds for a formal review.
Review Process
All qualifying clarification requests will be acknowledged within five business days of receipt. Humaital will review the submitted information against the original assessment record and determine whether the evidence provided changes the criterion-level finding. The reviewing party will be Humaital’s leadership team or a designated independent reviewer in cases where a conflict of interest applies. Organizations will receive a written response within 30 business days of the acknowledgment, stating either that the score has been amended and explaining what changed, or that the original finding has been upheld and explaining the basis for that determination.
Scope and Limitations
This process applies to factual corrections based on evidence. It is not an appeals mechanism for organizations that disagree with the HAI framework’s definition of alignment, the weighting of a particular pillar, or the certification threshold. Those questions are addressed through Humaital’s published methodology, which is available at humaital.com/methodology. Clarification requests do not suspend a published score during review. If a review results in a score change, the updated score will be published with a notation indicating that the assessment was revised following a clarification submission.
